Marijana Rajcic (’06) shares her passion for Loreto and the experiences she has had since leaving Loreto
For the month of August, LOSA would like to recognise Marijana Rajcic (’06). MJ is an AFLW player for the Adelaide Crows and was a contestant on The Amazing Race Australia. MJ explains to us her personal and career journey since leaving Loreto, and how Loreto helped her to grow into the woman she is today.
MJ in her own words:
“It’s funny how in life when people talk about schooling, I seem to always get funny looks when I say to people how much I loved school. But I did. I loved school. I loved Loreto. I love being a Loretian. I honestly never faked being sick to stay home. Even if I was sick I always wanted to go to school. There is a sense of pride, spirit and love that I feel when I talk about Loreto. And unless you were at Loreto it is a hard thing to explain and put down into words. Loreto helped me grow into the woman I am today.
I have been fortunate enough to play two sports at an elite level. I had the honour of being Captain of Adelaide United in the W-league. Then in 2017 I made the switch and joined the Adelaide Crows in the AFLW. I was fortunate enough to become a premiership player in 2019. Playing in front of then a record crowd of 53,000 people at Adelaide Oval. It is the highlight of my sporting career. To achieve the ultimate success alongside my teammates in front of our home supporters and all our family and friends.
Last year, I had the adventure of a lifetime and was a part of The Amazing Race Australia. Joining the cast as stowaways, Chelsea & I had the time of our lives competing daily and doing crazy challenges. Due to COVID, this season was filmed in our own backyard of Australia. It was amazing to go to places that I have never travelled or visited before.”
