Renata Ogilvie’s (’99) career in Marketing and passion for making a difference

Loreto Old Scholar, Renata Ogilvie (’99) is the current director of pSquared Communications and has kindly shared with LOSA her professional career journey since leaving Loreto. She has been able to follow her passion for Marketing, joining forces with her sister to make a difference within the Marketing and Communications industry.

Renata in her own words:

“I remember sitting in my very first marketing lecture at the University of South Australia and being so engaged in every one of the lecturers’ words. She articulated the passion I had for an industry I was only just beginning in, so well –  that I genuinely couldn’t wait to get started!

Over the years, I have worked in a range of marketing roles in diverse industries in both Adelaide and Perth, including finance, property management, building & construction and theme parks! In 2006, while both working full-time, my sister Stephanie Patniotis (also a Loreto Marryatville Old Scholar) and I, started a small Marketing and Events business. Five years later, we set-up our company, pSquared Communications in Perth and worked on our business full-time.

During the setup phase of our company, we sought to identify gaps in the market and as a result, created a clear identity for ourselves; A communications company which operated outside of an agency mould, offering relationship-based consulting, flexibility and innovative strategies, whilst ultimately being results focused. We have been fortunate enough to work with local, national and global companies including Channel 7, Myer, StyleAid, Western Force, Brookfield, Vividwireless, Wayne Cooper, Mont Blanc, MJ Bale, The Hunger Project, Fringe, Adventure World and Instant Products Group. Working across diverse industries keeps us inspired and creative, enabling us to bring fresh ideas to our clients, which are often unique to their industry.

Stephanie is now living in Melbourne, working on large-scale events including the Grand Prix, Carols in the Domain and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, so I have engaged a small team to work with me. I feel so fortunate to be able to immerse myself into my clients’ businesses and make a positive difference to their brands, businesses or events; and I still get a buzz every time I sit down to work on each and every campaign!

I am still happily linked to my Loreto roots, with my children attending a Loreto school, while I sit on their Marketing Committee – something I am very passionate about.
